The List

I have a long hallway in my house, every morning there's a little parade.  It's not very pretty to be honest, I generally forgo the bling for an oversized fleece robe, no slave to fashion me!

We're all a little wobbly and ungainly before kibble and coffee.  Daisy, my cat, at the front, real slowly just to make sure we remember who's in charge around here, then Snoopy, my son's Pitt. why do kids get pets when they leave home and then drop them off with us "temporarily"? not alone in this I know, and then there's me, I rate last in the parade because in their eyes I'm the food delivery service, poop collecter and doorman. They have a point.
With enough coffee in my system I can be surprisingly efficient! I'm certainly surprised when that happens, so after the animals are fed I sit down with my coffee and make a list.

Here's today's list....

make heads for skeletons
order glass eyes!
clean walnut shells
ship etsy sales
work on Rio
make beetle armatures
find box with finished caterpillars
Clear desk top. ( yeah right!)
knit acorns
wash whites
shower!!!!!!
paint bee pen
make apple crumble.
pay credit card... Mostly
sew raven bodies and stuff.

You get the idea, I'm sure you're list is similar,
Now I wasn't born yesterday, I know there's very little chance I'm going to cross off more than two of these items, and I'm not promising one of them will be "shower".
some days I add "drink coffee", or "get up", to the list,  it adds a sense of accomplishment to my day to cross off something, I'm not fussy what.
Recently a friend told me I was doing it all wrong, which seemed pretty likely given the amount of items transferred to the next day, week, or even month, she suggested I wait till the evening and write down anything I may have done that day, then cross the lot off,  pour myself a glass of wine and fugedaboudit!
I like that idea, I see the beauty in it I really do, but I have the nagging feeling I might be missing something, something with a deadline perhaps....... something that will result in my losing a job perhaps? or being evicted possibly. So I'm staying with the program for now.

I don't really have a pic for this post ,but these are nice aren't they? A real pattern from the 60s, I'm calling them the "cat hair collection" because I rather think they would be helpful in that task.

Little red cap sample

I just finished my new sample for my little red cap class in November.
I have been so busy lately, I have several projects on various tables around the house. As I wait for glue or paint to dry on one project I move around to the next one in no particular order,  happily making away, but feeling that I can't quite catch up and not wanting to let down any of the wonderful people who trust me to design, teach and create for them.

First class of the season!

I love the Autumn. The sun is lower in the sky and the evenings  are so beautifully lit, as if Maxwell parish had arranged the entire thing.
Yesterday was my first class of the season at Castle in the air.
And it was a wonderful welcome back after the summer. Such a fabulous group. I am so very fortunate to cross paths with such lovely people. We talked and laughed and ate macaroons and lemon cake and in the meantime we made needle felted Fraidy cats.

I'm always a little nuts before the first class. I pack up the kits for each person and then when normal folks would sit back and have a glass of wine, I attempt to stuff my entire studio in to the car. I try to think of everything I might possibly need that day which is truly bonkers as my poor little ADD brain
Is constantly heading down blind alleys and chasing wild geese. Still, I'm ok with it, I have come to appreciate the benefits of my particular  "issues" now that I work for myself and can arrange things to work for me. I try to fit the world to me instead of thinking I'm somehow broken. And my life has become a much better place to be because of it.
Nicho class is next on Wednesday, filling up boxes as I write this, do you think I might need to bring a table saw for this one?

By the way.........CASTLE IN THE AIR  is having a 40% off sale on  CP SHADES summer clothing, the loveliest silk and softest, finest linen . You are lovely, treat yourself!

Nicho sample

I could just keep adding stuff to my sample for the Nicho class that I'm teaching in September, but I had better save the rest of the goodies for the students and try to exercise a wee bit of constraint.

Mushrooms!

So finally I'm having revenge on that silk velvet skirt that has refused to fit what used to be my waist, I turned it into mushrooms.
I'm really looking forward to teaching this class, I figured out several simple but realistic forms and armatures. Dug out my lovely silk and linen scraps stash and I feel as though I could make so many different groups with all the lovely velvets, silks and ribbons.
I just need another 24 hours in a day.

Skeleton marionette

Having fun with all the tangly strings if I have time I'll try a wee dog skeleton!
